(2) May Altar in Your Home We invite every home to set up a simple May Altar during Our Lady’s Month. All children of this year’s Confirmation and Do This in Memory programmes were invited to create a Sacred Space at home. This would be a perfect setting for a May Altar by adding a statue / picture of Muire Máthair Dé and some fresh flowers / greenery from the field or garden. Remembering Fr. Patrick Peyton’s mantra “The family that prays together, stays together”, may be a time for all of us to renew family prayer and the Rosary. Ó ‘Mhuire Mháthair, mo mhíle grá thú, mo choimirce chúnta in am gach gá thú, mo dhochtúir leighis, tinn agus slán, tú, agus n’urra breá beannaithe le Flaitheas na ngrás thú. (Ár bPaidreacha Dúchais: Diarmuid Ó Laoghaire, S.J.) Is Maith an Bhean Muire Mhór Is maith an bhean Muire mhór, Máthair Ard-Rí na slógh síor; Siad a grásta is gnáth lán, Bean do chuir fál fó gach tír. Bean í dá gclaonann ceart, Bean is mó neart is brí, Bean is boige fá ór dearg, Bean le gcoisctear fearg an Rí. Bean do bheir radharc do dhall, Bean is treise thall ar neamh, Bean do thóg mo naimhde díom, Bean is díon dom ar gach cath. An Chéad Chomaoineach – Bealtaine 2010 Comhghairdeas to the boys and girls of Scoil Eoin Baiste who received their First Holy Communion yesterday. First Holy Communion takes place as follows for the children of Second Class in Bunscoil an Chlochair, Bunscoil Iognáid Rís agus Bunscoil an Ghleanna i Séipéal Naomh Muire ar an 15ú ag 11.00am; agus i Séipéal Naomh Caitlín ar an 22ú ag 11.00am do Bunscoil Cill Mhic a’ Domhnaigh agus Bunscoil Cheann Trá. Special Ministers of The Eucharist During these glorious days of First Communion in our own Parish and the Novena of Prayer before Pentecost we announce the commissioning dates for all Ministers of the Eucharist in our Parish. All who generously exercise this valued ministry together with those who have been recently nominated and have agreed to serve will be commissioned during the liturgies of Pentecost – May 22nd and 23rd. All will minister in our three Parish Churches, in Dingle Hospital and the nursing homes, in Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne and Coláiste Íde, assist at public Eucharistic Adoration and on occasions bring Communion to our house bound sick – what a wonderful team of eucharistic care and service in our Parish! Go méadaí Dia a Stór. A Íosa mhilis, ní suíochán duit mo theanga, ní lóistin duit mo chroí; ach bronn orm do bheannaitheacht, is go bhfana sí agam chóiche. (Ón dTraidisiún – Fr. Pádraig Sears) Imígí Faoin Domhan Uile The Perfect Church If you should find the perfect church Without one fault or smear, For goodness sake, don’t join that church, You’d spoil the atmosphere. If you should find the perfect church Where all the worries cease, Then pas it by, lest joining it, You’d spoil the masterpiece! If you should find the perfect church Then don’t you ever dare To tread upon such holy ground. You’d be a misfit there! Since no such perfect church exists, Made up of perfect men, Let’s cease on looking for that church And love the Church we’re in! (Anon) Machnamh ar an Chéad Leacht Ní rud nua scannail nó deacrachtaí daonna a bheith san Eaglais. B’fhéidir gur leagadh béim ró-láidir ar naofacht nó ‘foirfeacht’ na hEaglaise. Níl éinne foirfe nó naofa ach Dia amháin. ‘Sé Dia údar ár ndóchas agus tobar ár ngrá. (Intercom, Bealtaine 2010) Miúin (659) ‘Tar éis dó labhairt leo, tógadh an Tiarna Íosa suas ar neamh, agus chuaigh sé chun suite ar dheasláimh Dé’. Bhí Corp Chríost glóirithe ó chéad nóiméad an Aiséirí, mar a chruthaíonn na hairíonna nua osnádúrtha atá de shochar ag a Chorp go buan feasta. Ach in imeacht an daichead lá a n-itheann agus a n-ólann sé i gcomhroinn na ndeisceabal agus a dtugann teagasc dóibh i dtaobh na Ríochta, fanann a ghlóir mar a bheadh faoi chaille I gcruth na gnáthdhaonnachta. Is é is críoch don taispeánadh deiridh ná Íosa ina dhaonnacht a dhul isteach i nglóir Dé, ar siombail uirthi an scamall agus neamh, mar a bhfuil sé ina shuí feasta ar dheasláimh Dé. Is í an t-aon eisceacht amháin an chaoi a dtaispeánann sé é féin do Phól ‘mar do dhuine a rugadh in antráth, den uair dheireanach sin a dhéanann aspal de. (666) Gabhann Íosa Críost, Ceann na hEaglaise, romhainn isteach i Ríocht ghlórmhar an Athar, le go mbeidh sinne, baill a Choirp, i ndóchas a bheith fairis lá éigean go síoraí suthain. (Caiticiosma na hEaglaise Caitlicí 659) Let’s Listen What have you to say about Church today? Bishop Liam Ó Murchú announced this Diocesan listening programme during the Chrism in St. Mary’s Cathedral during Holy Week. The Diocesan Pastoral Council in conjunction with Corca Dhuibhne Pastoral Area Council have arranged our Meeting for Benner’s Hotel, Dingle on Wednesday 26th May next at 8pm. You are most welcome to attend in order to explore and discuss issues relevant to the Catholic Church in Ireland today. It is hoped that all members of the Boards of Management of National Schools in the Deanery together with our Safeguarding Children teams will be in attendance as well. Bishop Liam’s express hope is that area gatherings like this can enable us to listen to one another at this time in our Church’s history and move forward together as Pobal Dé.
