Ballad of All-Ireland Final 1913

Ho! They swing up from Dingle and in past Lixnaw,

Over the mountains from proud Iveragh;

Just mark how they rally from gallant Tralee,

In charming Killarney to muster with glee!

Hurrah for the Crokes! Lo, the Mitchels are here;

Give Rangers, O’Connells and Dingle Gascons a cheer;

God bless them and weld them, success to the team

That has raised the old game to its place of esteem.

A-mazing Lios Póil – GAA@125

“If you happened to be flying over Dingle in a plane or helicopter this summer you would have noticed a huge maze in the shape of the GAA 125 logo . To celebrate the GAA’s big year, Lispole farmer Colm Murphy came up with the a-mazing idea of constructing a 5-acre corn maze in the shape of the GAA’s emblem. “Seeing as it’s the GAA’s 125th year in Dingle, we wanted to do something special,” said Colm. The Corn Maze was open to the public and included many treasure and quiz trails where markets hidden within the immense maze had to be found.”

1st All-Ireland Football Victory 1903

See our conquering heroes come

To the strains of fife and drum,

See the cheering crowds,

who greet them at the train.

Bearing proudly back the shield

From the foemen’s hard fought field,

Thundering forth old Kerry’s grand refrain.

Chorus: Hurrah, Up Kerry, Sing we proudly!

Hurrah, Up Kerry, Might and main!

Three times for green and gold,

For our boys both brave and bold –

Hi Hurrah! Up Kerry once again!

Macnamh

A Thiarna, ofrálaim an cluiche seo duit.

Ofrálaim m’imirt duit mar urnaí agus

déanfad mo dhícheall.

Is tábhachtaí m’iompar ar an bpáirc inniu ná fuinneamh mo ghéag sa chluiche.

Má dheinim go maith cabhraigh liom

éirí in airde a sheachaint,

Mioscais má bhuaitear orainn agus fearg,

formad agus fíoch.

Ach, a Thiarna, táim ag tnúth leis an mbua.

Tabhair cúnamh dom, más ea, mo dhícheall a dhéanamh agus gur leor sin chun an chraobh a bhreith. AMEN

Ó Austin Flynn, Port Láirge 1959 – Aistríodh ag Mons. Pádraig Ó Fiannachta.

Go n-éirí go geal le Eamon Mac Mhuiris agus a chó roghnóirí comh maith le Diarmuid Ó Murchú, Tomás Ó Grifín, Ronán Ó Flathartha, Darragh, Tomás & Marc Ó Sé agus a gcompánaigh ag imirt in aghaidh Chorcaigh.

Beir bua ‘s beannacht. Ciarraí Abú!
