Changes in Ministry in Corca Dhuibhne due to Diocesan Clerical Changes.
With only 4 Diocesan Priests in full-time ministry for the 4 Parishes of Corca Dhuibhne (Population c.9,000), a revised Mass schedule for weekends is needed. This schedule is being designed to ensure that each church community has a weekend Mass and can be covered by 3 priests in event of the absence of a priest for any reason. We will publish the revised Sunday Mass schedule together with the other ministry changes for the Corca Dhuibhne Pastoral Area in next weekend’s newsletter.
VOCATIONS
‘Veni, Creator Spiritus’
Come , O Creator Spirit!
Come to raise up new generations of young people, ready to work in the Lord’s vineyard, to spread the kingdom of God to the furthermost ends of the earth.
And you, Mary, Mother of Christ, who at the foot of the cross accepted us as beloved sons with the apostle John, continue to watch over our vocation.
To you we entrust the years of ministry
which Providence will grant us yet to live.
Be near us to guide us along the paths of the world,
to meet the men and women whom your Son redeemed with His blood.
Help us to fulfil completely the will of Jesus,
born of you for the salvation of humanity.
O Christ, you are our hope!
Críost Ár nDóchas.

“A Future Not Our Own”
Prayer/Poem of Archbishop Oscar Romero
(Martyred when celebrating Mass 24th March 1980)
It helps, now and then, to step back
and take the long view.
The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts,
It is beyond our vision.

We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise that is God’s work.
Nothing we do is complete,
Which is another way of saying
That the kingdom always lies beyond us.

No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No programme accomplishes the church’s mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.

This is what we are about:
We plant seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces effects
beyond our capabilities.

We cannot do everything and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that.
This enables us to do something,
And to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning,
a step along the way, an opportunity for God’s grace to enter and do the rest.

We may never see the end results,
But that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders,
ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.
