Eucharistic Congress 2012

In preparation for the Eucharistic Congress 2012, we are invited over the coming two years to focus on how we celebrate the Eucharist.

“As Christians, we are not just called; we are called together, gathered. This is the background to efforts today to enhance the sense of ‘gathering’ around the beginning of the Mass. If being church means being gathered, then it is important how we gather. The way we gather is meant to reflect something of who we are. It should convey the joy and togetherness of being the body of Christ.”

Day For Life

Today is Day for Life, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. This year’s theme is the meaning of Christian death and care for those who are dying – Lord for your faithful people, Life is changed, not ended. A Pastoral Letter has been published by the Irish Bishops and this is available with some video resources on the Irish Bishops’ website – www.catholicbishops.ie.  Video resources include an interview with Bishop John Fleming, Bishop of Killala and interview and reflection with Marie Gribbons, a chaplain at St Francis Hospice in Raheny, Dublin.

Copies of the Pastoral Letter are in the Church Porches. Please take a copy to read.

Please pray OUR MISSION PRAYER

Heavenly Father we ask you to bless us,

As we prepare for our Parish Mission in November.

Open our hearts to Your grace,

That we may be more faithful in following Your way.

Bless all families in our parish at home and afar,

Especially those families

That are experiencing difficulties.

Bless the old, the young, the lonely,

The poor, the sick, the unemployed,

Those in sorrow, those in despair,

Those who have lost their way.

May Your love be upon us, O Lord

As we place all our hope in you. Amen.

Abair PAIDIR D’ÁR MISEAN

A Athair neamhaí iarraimid ort sinn a bheannú

Agus sinn ag ullmhú do Mhisean an Pharóiste i Mí na Samhna.

Oscail ár gcroíthe dod ghrásta

Go mbeimid níos dílse ag leanúint do shlí.

Leag go fial do bheannacht ar na teaghlaigh inár bparóiste ar ár bpobal sa bhaile agus i gcéin,

Go h’áirithe na teaghlaigh sin atá i gcruachás.

Beannaigh idir óg agus críonna, uaigneach

Bocht, breoite, iad siúd atá in isle brí,

Iad siúd a chaill a slí

Go dtitfidh do ghrá orainn, a Thiarna

Agus sinn ag cur ár ndóchas i dtaisce ionat. Amen

WORLD MISSIONS IRELAND

Together in Mission

Mission Sunday – October 24th

In Ireland, the theme for Mission Month is Together in Mission. Columban Fr. Mick Sinnott, kidnapped in the Phillippines Island, see poster, has good reason to appreciate the richness of that togetherness, as do all those who love him and who were touched so deeply by his plight, his courage and his commitment to his calling in life.

“The out-pouring of prayers, Masses, vigils, Holy Hours and other religious services offered for me while I was in captivity are an example of what people can do to support the missionary work,” wrote Fr. Mick. “Even the old, the sick and the suffering have an important part to play and, if they accept their crosses and offer them for the extension of God’s kingdom, they can obtain tremendous graces for missionaries working in the field. We are all in this task together and all have their own part to play, even the most lowly who think their lives are useless. All can be true missionaries.”
