Comaoine le Críost agus le Chéile
Christian Solidarity: The Eucharist, understood in terms of Communion, is the effective sign of Christian solidarity, which promotes appropriate participation. Solidarity sees the other as a neighbour who is ‘to be made a sharer on a par with ourselves in the banquet of life to which all are equally invited by God’ [Sollicitudo Rei Socialis, 39]. Under this heading one might explore how the Eucharist underpins the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching, such as the ‘universal destination of goods’, ‘the right to participation’, ‘the priority of labour over capital’, and ‘love of preference for the poor.’

St. Mark Evangelist
Feast Day – April 25th
St. Mark was closely connected with the preaching of Ss Peter, Paul and Barnabas. His Gospel was probably written at Rome when he was with Paul, and is traditionally viewed as representing St. Peter’s approach to the preaching of the good news. His symbol is a winged lion.
Mark the Evangelist is the traditional author of the Gospel of Mark. He is one of the Seventy Disciples of Christ, and the founder of the Church of Alexandria, one of the original four main sees of Christianity.
Peter picked Mark and took him as travel companion and interpreter. Mark the Evangelist wrote down the sermons of Peter, thus composing the Gospel according to Mark (Eccl. Hist. 15-16), before he left for Alexandria in the third year of Claudius (AD 43).
In AD 43, about 10 years after the Ascension of Christ, Mark traveled to Alexandria and founded the Church of Alexandria, which today is claimed by the Coptic Orthodox Church. Aspects of the Coptic liturgy can be traced back to Saint Mark himself. He became the first bishop of Alexandria and he is honored as the founder of Christianity in Africa.
Later Coptic tradition says that he was martyred in AD 68. It is believed that on the night when Jesus was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane Mark had followed him there and the Temple guards saw him, he ran away and dropped his loin cloth.
Ón dTraidisiún
“Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Bless this bed I lie upon”.
Ag Dul a Chodladh
Luímse ar an leaba seo anocht,
Mar a luíonn Mac Dé ar an gcrois;
Brat Mhuire mar scaball tharam;
A Mhuire mhuirneach, mo mhíle grá thú,
Mo dhochtúir leighis, tinn agus slán thú.
Ar cheithre phostaí na leapan,
Go raibh na ceithre aingeal atá m’fhaire,
Agus má fhaighimse bás as seo go maidin,
I bhflaithis Dé go raibh m’anam.

Dingle Parish Pastoral Council has been receiving feedback, both adverse and positive on this service. Situations beyond our control regarding broadband delivery of this service sometimes fall short of all our hopes and expectations. On the positive note we include two recent communications as follows;
“Thank you so much for the Mass for my parents’ anniversary which we were able to watch via video link. It really was lovely. I marvel at the changes in technology in Green St. from the crackling radio and snowy figures on telly in my youth to the present. Again many thanks. Le gach dea-ghuí.” (Dublin Resident)
“I love watching the live stream of the Mass! It makes me feel so connected even though I am so far away. To watch and listen is amazing! The Altar looks wonderful. Thank you.”
(New York Resident)
