“Ar scáth a chéile”

Towards Healing and Renewal

“Towards Healing and Renewal” is our Bishop’s pastoral response marking Pope Benedict’s invitation to journey together on “the path of healing, renewal and reparation”. Copies are available in the Church porch.

  • Prayer for the Survivors of Abuse;
  • a commitment to listening;
  • spiritual support;
  • creating a safer future for children.

Prayers of Intercession

  • We pray for all those who have suffered abuse of any kind: that the Lord of all tenderness and compassion will restore them and give them peace.
  • We pray that we may become more and more a parish community that actively cares for and protects the most vulnerable sections of our society.
  • We pray for the Spirit of wisdom: that it will enlighten the minds of all people and lead to a growth in awareness and determination.
  • We pray for all in the healing professions who minister to those who suffer as a result of violence or abuse: that God will give them an abundance of love, compassion and wisdom.

Ag Tobar Naoimh / At a Holy Well

Go mbeannaí Dia duit, a Eoin Baiste Naofa,

Go mbeannaí Muire duit, agus bannaím féin duit.

Is chugat a tháinig mé ag gearán mo phéin’ duit,

Is ag iarraidh carthanachta as ucht Dé ort.

May God Bless you, St. John the Baptist,

May Mary Bless you, and I bless you myself.

To you I have come to complain of my trouble and to ask your charity for the love of God.

Páis agus Bás Íosa

Tá me ag filleadh arís ort, is a Rí gheal ná daor sinn;

Tabhair dom deoch as tobar na daonnacht’,

Nó braon den uisce úd do shil as do thaobh deas,

A dhéanfaidh sinn a ghlanadh, a ghealadh is a shaoradh,

Is go rachaidh ár n-anam go Flaithis i d’fhéachaint.

I come back to you again and, bright King, do not condemn us; give me a drink from the well of your humanity or a drop of the water that flowed from your right side,

which will be enough to clean us and wash us and free us, and may our souls rise up to Heaven in your sight.

(An Saltair: P Ó Fiannachta, D. Forristal)
