Learning about The Mass
Who does what at Mass?
At every Mass you will notice that some members of the assembly have different jobs. We call these jobs ‘ministries’. Let’s look at some of them:
The Priest: At Mass the priest leads us and encourages us to play our part in the celebration. How does he do this? He:
· Leads us in prayer;
· Invites us to listen to God’s word;
· Helps us to understand and make sense of the Word of God in our daily lives through his homily;
· Takes our gifts, the bread and wine, offers them to God and prays that by the power of the Holy Spirit they will become the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Altar Servers
We sincerely thank all our dedicated Altar Servers, their parents and the helpers who supervise them.
We welcome children (3rd Class and up) to volunteer as servers in Dingle and Fionn Trá.
A letter to parents and an application form will be issued through our Parish Primary Schools this week. Contact the Parish Office 9151208.

All you who serve the Lord” Psalm 133
Corn Uí Mhuirí 2012
Go n-éirí go geal le pheileadóirí Pobal Scoil Chorca Dhuibhne atá ag imirt i gcluiche cheannais na Mhumhan i Chorn Uí Mhuirí i gcoinne Coláiste De La Salle, Maigh Cromhta Dé Domhnach 4ú Márta ar a 2.30pm i Páirc na Gearailtigh, Cill Áirne.

A Thiarna, ofrálaim an cluiche seo duit.
Ofrálaim m’imirt duit mar urnaí agus
déanfaidh mo dhícheall.
Is tábhachtaí m’iompar ar an bpáirc inniu ná fuinneamh mo ghéag sa chluiche.
Má dheinim go maith cabhraigh liom
éirí in airde a sheachaint,
Mioscais má bhuaitear orainn agus fearg,
formad agus fíoch.
Ach, a Thiarna, táim ag tnúth leis an mbua.
Tabhair cúnamh dom, más ea, mo dhícheall a dhéanamh agus gur leor sin chun an chraobh a bhreith. AMEN

Parish visitation of Chill Mhic a’ Domhnaigh and Monaree Areas by Frs. Tomás and Bearnárd, will resume during the coming week.

Confirmation/Cóineartú 2012
Service of Light and Penance for Candidates, Sponsors and Parents at 7.30pm on Monday 12th March in St. Mary’s Church. Candidates are reminded to bring their Baptismal Candle (in good working order please) or another candle. Seating for the Confirmation Ceremony will be allocated to all candidates and their sponsors following this Service of Light.
Choosing a Sponsor
1. The sponsor needs to be a practising Catholic who lives a life of Faith that serves to guide and motivate the candidate.
2. The person needs to be sixteen years of age or over.
3. It is desirable that the sponsor be one of the candidate’s baptismal godparents because Confirmation continues and deepens the grace of Baptism.
Essentially whoever is chosen as a sponsor needs to be practising and engaging with their Faith.
Confirmation Day/ Lá an Easpaig
Bishop Liam Ó Murchú will administer the sacrament of Confirmation in St Mary’s at 3.30pm on Tuesday March 20th. Parents, Sponsors and Candidates are advised to arrive in good time for the ceremony. All parishioners are warmly invited to attend and to support the confirmandi with their prayers.
Tar anuas, a Spiorad Naomh
Second Sunday of Lent
We are invited this Sunday to offer our most prized and precious possessions in sacrifice to God who did not spare his most prized possession, his own Son, for us. Communion with Jesus, and solidarity with all people throughout the world, will make considerable demands on us if we are to call ourselves Christian. To be Christian is to be in ‘Communion with Christ and with One Another’ as the theme for International Eucharistic Congress 2012 points out. Communion is not just about participating in the Eucharist. Communion demands that we give of our time, our talent, and our treasure to help those who are building new lives. There, in the people we are in solidarity and communion with throughout the world, we can discover Christ who is the truth and the beauty of all our lives. The Eucharist gains new meaning when we uncover the value of every person, rooted in the real and tangible love that God has for us all, in Christ Jesus. (A Trócaire Reflection)
50th International Eucharistic Congress
NB: A limited number of tickets for the closing Mass of the Eucharistic Congress (Statio Orbis) in Croke Park on Sunday June 17th are still available. If you are interested in attending please contact the Presbytery by Friday next March 9th.

Come and participate in this event with workshops, dramas, interactive catechesis, concerts, social activities, games, art, fun and much more!
