A Prayer for Vocation

O Jesus, send labourers into your fields
which are awaiting holy apostles, saintly priests,
heroic missionaries and dedicated sisters and brothers.
Enkindle in the hearts of men and women the spark of a vocation.
Grant that Christian families may desire to give your Church help in the work of tomorrow.
Céad Comaoine 2017

Smaoineamh
Jesus is no hireling. The hireling doesn’t own the sheep, and runs away as soon as he sees a wolf approaching. Jesus is the God Shepherd. The sheep belong to him, and he is ready to die for them. Jesus made the most wonderful promises to those who belong to him. He said that none of them would ever be lost. No one would succeed in snatching from his care the sheep the Father has entrusted to him. The sheep that belong to him will be safe with him because the Father’s power is in him. He and the Father are one. And he will lead them to the pastures of eternal life.

Pray for: Joseph Griffin, John St. and late of Goulin; Kathleen Quin (nee Brick), Tipperary and late of Carhunapuca; Fr Pat Moore, Asdee; Dr Mary O’Sullivan, Ledger, Oxford. Suaimhneas síoraí dá n-anamacha.

Are you aware of the NCCA survey on Religious Education in our Primary Schools?
Religious Education will no longer be a subject in the state recognised Primary Schools Curriculum, under the NCCA’s proposal, unless you let your views be known. Is this a move to remove Religious Education from our schools? This move devalues and challenges the place and status of Religious Education in our schools. Is this what you want for the future generations of children? As a matter of urgency parents, teachers, Boards of Management and interested adults need to engage with the survey before closing date 26th May 2017. The NCCA survey is available online: http://www.ncca.ie/en/Curriculum_andAssessment/Early Childhood_and_Primary_Education/Primary-Education/Primary_Developments/Structure-and-Time-Allocation)
