Laochra an Chreidimh II – Patrons
Naomh de Mazzarella: Rugadh í san Iodáil i 1837 bhí a clan bocht. Chuaigh sí isteach sa chlochair nuair a bhí sí 15. Fuair sí bás i 1881 – aois 44. Deineadh Naomh di i 1938. Tá a lá féile ar an 13ú Bealtaine.
I chose this name because my Nan wanted it to be that name and my aunty also took it as her confirmation name. She was born in Marnese in what is now the province of Alessandria, northern Italy, to a peasant family who worked in a vineyard. When she was fifteen she joined the Association of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate, run by her Parish Priest Father Peslarina, it was a precursor to the founding of the Salesian Sisters. When she was 23 a typhoid epidemic hit Marnese and villagers started rapidly dying. Soon her uncle and aunt were taken ill and Maria volunteered to care for them and their many children. Her full name was Maria Domenica Mazzarello and she was born May 9th 1837 and she died on May 14th 1881. She was beatified on November 20th 1938.

St. Joseph the Worker – May 1st
Dingle Liturgy group invites you to come along and take part in our annual liturgy honouring St. Joseph the Worker on Friday next May 1st at 7.30pm. We aim to offer all our endeavours to the Lord in particular the human work of all who care for St. Mary’s Church in this its 150th Jubilee together with the achievements of our youth.
“Work was the daily expression of love in the life of the Family of Nazareth. The Gospel specifies the kind of work Joseph did in order to support his family: he was a carpenter. This simple word sums up Joseph’s entire life… If the Family of Nazareth is an example and model for human families, in the order of salvation and holiness, so too, by analogy, is Jesus’ work at the side of Joseph the carpenter. In our own day, the Church has emphasized this by instituting the liturgical memorial of St. Joseph the Worker on 1 May. Human work, and especially manual labour, receive special prominence in the Gospel. At the workbench where he plied his trade together with Jesus, Joseph brought human work closer to the mystery of the Redemption.” (St. John Paul II)

Holy Hour For Vocations on First Friday

Parishioners of Corca Dhuibhne Pastoral Area are especially invited to “watch and pray” for this special intention from 10.30am – 11.30am concluding with Benediction.
The Marriage Referendum
Information meeting on the Marriage Referendum for Corca Dhuibne will be held on Monday May 11th in the Dingle Skellig Hotel at 8pm. Fáilte roimh cách. There will be a short presentation followed by Q&A, hosted by Mothers and Fathers Matter Kerry. Information from mfmkerry@gmail.com
“The effects of the referendum of 22 May will be far reaching for this and for future generations. Catholic bishops are concerned that, should the amendment be passed, it will become increasingly difficult:
• To speak any longer in public about marriage as being between a man and a woman;
• To teach children in school about marriage;
• For those who sincerely continue to believe that marriage is between a man and a woman as they may be forced to act against their conscience.
Can a way be found to protect the civil rights of gay people without undermining the fundamental meaning of marriage as commonly understood across cultures, faiths and down the ages?
We respect the views of people who think differently to us, trusting that our sincerely held views, grounded in faith, will also be heard and respected.”
