Machnamh

Lord, you said:
‘I am the vine, you are the branches.
Separated from me you can do nothing,
but united with me you will bear much fruit.’
Thank you, Lord, for the bond you formed with us.
And thank you for the bond that exists among us
because of our union with you.
Thanks to this bond we have invisible riches
to share with one another.
Grant that we may never be separated from you,
so that we may produce in the world
the fruits of faith, hope, and love.
Ár gCóineartú 2018
Focal Buíochais
Comhghairdeachas lenár 35 leanaí a ghlac Sacramint an Chóineartú. Buíochas ó chroí le gach éinne a bhí páirteach le hullmhú agus ceiliúradh an Chóineartú inár bparóiste. To all who were involved in the preparation and celebration of Confirmation in our Parish, we are most grateful to volunteers who helped in the cleaning and decorating of the church, and sanctuary area, altar servers, choir, sacristans, teachers in our schools, those who helped with posters, choir and musicians, organist and choir directors, parents and sponsors, those who created floral arrangements for the paschal candle and the sanctuary, our visiting priests, Fr. Nicholas Flynn Diocesan Secretary and Bishop Ray Browne who administered the Sacrament. Mo cheol sibh.
“The greatest gift that each person has is the gift of life. Let us give thanks to God for this gift. May the Lord open our eyes to see the image of God in every child at every stage of their lives.”
Adoration
One hour of Adoration will take place every Sunday for the next 4 weeks, from 4pm – 5pm in St. Mary’s Church. This time of prayer is being offered for the forthcoming Referendum.
Fáilte roimh chách.

Smaoineamh

In spring the branches of the vine teem with life in the form of leaves and blossoms. In autumn they are loaded with grapes. But they have this life, and are able to produce this fruit, only because they are connected to the vine. Cut off from the vine, they would not only become barren, but quickly wither and die. Just as the branches need the vine, so we need Christ. Separated from him, we have no life and are unable to bear fruit.

This call to holiness of life is very much a sharing, of Pope Francis’ own spiritual life, but also, of his reflections on the holiness of so many “ordinary” people who in their daily lives seek to live by the spirit of the Gospel, especially, as set down by Jesus in his ‘Sermon on the Mount’ (Luke 6: 20 – 23) and as witnessed to in his life. There will be an opportunity for discussion and each session will conclude with a short prayer service.
