Just a Thought / Smaoineamh

We too need a lonely place for reflection. Often we live foolishly and unspiritually, driven on by stupid desires and imprisoned by selfish habits. We are surrounded by noise and constant activity.
We need solitude. In solitude we begin to stand on our own feet before God and the world, and accept full responsibility for our own lives. The hermit goes into the desert, not to lose himself, but to find himself.
Only in solitude and silence can I find the gentleness with which I can love my brothers and sisters.

Machnamh / Reflection
Lord, it feels like we are embarking
on a Lenten journey together, you and I.
Open my heart during these days to meet you
in my wanderings and in my wonderings,
in seeking to deepen my faith in you.

Give me opportunities to come to know you more,
through opening my heart and mind to you.
And in my daily life,
let me meet you in those I encounter.
Be with me over these 40 days of Lent… and always.
Amen.

Stations of the Cross
