Thought for the day: Today’s gospel continues the challenge from last week to go deeper into the heart, the seat of hidden thoughts and desires. The call to conversion is a call to give just as we have received: we are loved and so should love; we are forgiven and so should forgive; we are consoled and so should console and so forth. Why is that? Because the love etc. that we have received becomes truly “me” only when I pass it on. Only then have I experienced the message of the prophet: I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezek 36:26) Prayer: O God, open our ears to hear the word of Jesus, your Son. Open our hearts, that we may know true conversion from within. Open our hands that we may give just as we have received.

Trócaire and Dues Envelopes 2023
The Spring and Easter Dues Envelopes and Trócaire Boxes will be distributed to each house in the Parish over the next week. Buíochas to the Contact People who distribute them on behalf of the Parish. Spare envelopes and Trócaire Boxes will be available at the back of the three Parish Churches. NB: If paying by cheque please make it payable to Tigh an tSagairt for the Dues and Dingle Parish for Trócaire.

Ash Wednesday February 22nd, is a day of fast and abstinence. To celebrate Ash Wednesday, you are invited to attend Mass that day at which ashes will be distributed. Lent calls us to ‘come back to God with all our heart’ and the practices of prayer, fasting and giving to charity are a way of making real our return to God. Ashes marking our foreheads remind us of our human frailty and our dependence on God.

Pope Francis Tweet: Each one of us needs other people. Even weakness, if endured together with others, can become a strength that will make the world better.
