Machnamh / Reflection

Lord, protect us, your pilgrim people.
As we journey towards our home in heaven,
bless us with a sense of adventure
and a sense of security.
As we seek to be home-makers
here on earth,
both with our loved ones and
in our parish community,
may we create for each other
an experience of Christian welcome
that puts us in touch with you
and gives us a foretaste
of what home will be like for ever.
Amen.

Blessing of Throats
St. Blaise has been venerated as patron of those who suffer from disease of the throat and his feast day falls on Saturday February 3rd. There will be blessing of throats after all Masses this Saturday and Sunday.
World Day of the Sick

Adoration
A member of The Diocesan Adoration Prayer Team will speak at all Masses on the weekend of the 17th/18th February.

Smaoineamh

The most beneficial prayer of all is just to be in the presence of God, without saying or doing anything. This may sound easy, but in practice it’s very difficult. Because as soon as we stop, we feel empty, perhaps even useless. Most people get their sense of self-worth from doing. They don’t know how to cope with idleness and stillness. The result is that their lives can be shallow and superficial. When we immerse ourselves in the quiet and stillness of God’s presence, we experience our true worth, which consists not in doing but in being.
