Ár gCóineartú
Our Patron Saints / Laochra an Chreidimh No. 88. Naomh Rebecca. Is í Naomh Rebecca naomh phatrún na daoine breoite agus na daoine gan tuismitheoirí. Deineadh bean rialta di nuair a bhí sí 21 leis an Órd Marian don Immaculate Conception. Dúirt Naomh Rebecca paidreacha go roinnfeadh sí i bhfulaingt Íosa agus dá bharr bhí sí dall agus chaill sí luth na gcos. Bhí sí gan a sláinte ar feadh 30 bliain agus chaith sí a h-am ag sníomh agus ag rá paidreacha. Bhí sí ag obair ar leabhar ag deireadh a saoil. Tá an chuid míorúiltí ceangailte lena h-uaigh. Tá lá féile Naomh Rebecca ar an 23ú Márta.

24 hours for the Lord
The Council for New Evangelisation has proposed that one church in each Diocese should offer 24 hours of the Sacrament of Penance to those who wish in the context of Eucharistic Adoration from 5pm Friday March 28th until 5pm on Saturday March 29th. In the Diocese of Kerry it will be held in the Church of the Resurrection, Killarney. All are welcome. It is an opportunity to witness the infinite love, mercy and forgiveness of God our Father for all in the Church.
God the Father of mercies,
through the Death and Resurrection of His Son, has sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins.
Through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace.
Your sins are forgiven go sin no more,
go live a loving life.
Come back to me with all your heart.
Repent and believe in the Gospel.
There is more joy in heaven over
one sinner who repents . . .
Reconciliation is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic community. Sometimes this sacrament is called penance or confession. The word refers to healing the rift between a sinful human being and God (and others in the human community). It comes from the Latin reconciliare – to conciliate or to “restore to friendship”. The word “penance”, which comes from the Latin poenitentia, means “contrition” and “repentance for wrongdoing”.
A basis for the sacrament of reconciliation can be found in the Christian Scripture in the gospel of John (20:22-23). Christian communities in all eras have firmly believed that Jesus of Nazareth cared deeply about sinners, outcasts, and the alienated, and that he called all persons, especially the sinners and the most downtrodden of his time, to experience conversion (turn away) from sin and evil in order to turn their lives fully toward his good news of hope. (The New Catholic Dictionary: Reynolds Ekstrom. The Columba Press)
