Parish Mission Statement
A Parish Mission Statement is a brief description of what a parish community is about. It highlights the identity and ethos of the community, the vision of the parish both in the present and future. Our Pastoral Council are working on a Mission Statement for our parish. Mission Statements tend to be brief and to the point. This is a first draft below and we invite people to reflect on it and make changes / suggestions if they wish in writing to the Presbytery before 31st May.
Draft Mission Statement
We are a welcoming Catholic Faith Community respecting the uniqueness and value of each person. Inspired by the Gospel and through our worship and service we strive to share with others in a caring and compassionate way.

Mar phobal Caitliceach cuirimid fáilte chroíúil roimh chách le meas ar an uile dhuine. Le hionspioráid ó Shoiscéal Dé is é ár gcuspóir freastal ar dhaoine trénár ndúthracht san adhradh agus lenár seirbhís charthannach thrócaireach.
It is hoped to place the Parish Mission Statement in English and Irish in each of our three churches.

Smaoineamh
Life is unintelligible and unendurable without God. That’s why faith is so important. When the English singer, Charlie lansboro, became a Catholic he said, ‘I believe completely. I can’t imagine my life without my faith. But it took me a long time to get there.’ Those who have faith have a source of comfort and inspiriation, especially when trouble strikes. They know that God will be good to them in the end, both in this world and in the next. It is not we who keep the faith; it is the faith that keeps us.

Are you aware of the NCCA survey on Religious Education in our Primary Schools?
Religious Education will no longer be a subject in the state recognised Primary Schools Curriculum, under the NCCA’s proposal, unless you let your views be known. Is this a move to remove Religious Education from our schools? This move devalues and challenges the place and status of Religious Education in our schools. Is this what you want for the future generations of children? As a matter of urgency parents, teachers, Boards of Management and interested adults need to engage with the survey before closing date 26th May 2017. The NCCA survey is available online: http://www.ncca.ie/en/CurriculumandAssessment/Early Childhood_and_Primary_Education/Primary-Education/Primary_Developments/Structure-and-Time-Allocation
