Ár gCóineartú
Our Patron Saints / Laochra an Chreidimh No. 96. Isabelle was the daughter of Louis VIII of France and Blanche of Castile. She was a young sister of King Louis IX of France. She is honoured as a saint by the Franciscan Order. Isabelle’s father died when she was 2 years old and it was her mother Blanche who oversaw her education. Like her brother she studied Latin and became an expert in the language.
When still a child at court Isabelle was already devoted to religion. By the Papal Bull of 26th May 1254 Pope Innocent IV allowed her to retain some Franciscan friars as her special confessors. She was even more devoted to the Franciscan Order than her royal brother. She not only broke off her engagement with Count Hugh XI of Husignan but moreover refused the hand of Conrad IV of Germany, son of Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor, although pressed to accept him by everyone, even by Innocent IV, who however did not hesitate subsequently to praise her fixed determination to remain a single woman.
I chose Isabelle because I admire her devotion to religion and to the Franciscans. We celebrate her feast day on the 26th of February. (Clara – Scoil Eoin Baiste)
Déanaigí É Seo i gCuimhne 2013 – 2014

Paidir roimh Chomaoine
A Thiarna Íosa, tar chugam.
A Thiarna Íosa, tabhair dom do ghrá.
A Thiarna Íosa, tar chugam agus tabhair dom Tú féin.

A Íosa, a chara n bpáistí, tar chugam.
A Íosa, is tú mo Thiarna agus mo Dhia,
Moladh go deo leat, a Thiarna Íosa Chríost.

A Thiarna, ní fiú mé go dtiocfá faoi mo dhíon,
Ach abairse an focal agus leigheasfar m’anam.
Paidir tar éis Chomaoine
Fáilte romhat, a Íosa, céad míle fáilte romhat,
Fáilte romhat, a shlánaitheoir, céad míle fáilte romhat.

Táim réidh anois, a Íosa, chun mo ghrá a thaispeáint duit.
Táim réidh anois, a Íosa, chun mo ghrá a thaispeáint sa bhaile, ar scoil agus i ngach áit eile.

A Íosa mhilis, ní suíochán duit mo theanga,
ní lóistín duit mo chroí,
Ach brón orm do bheannacht,
Is go bhfana sé agam choíche.
Corpus Christi Procession Sunday June 22nd, Mass at 11.30am for the whole Parish Community.
Comhghairdeas to the 5 boys and girls of Scoil Eoin Baiste who received their First Communion last Sunday.
Bring flowers of the rarest
Bring flowers of the rarest
Bring blossoms the fairest,
From garden and woodland and hillside and dale;
Our full hearts are swelling,
Our glad voices telling
The praise of the loveliest flower of the vale!

Chorus: O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today!
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.

O Virgin most tender, Our homage we render,
Thy love and protection,
Sweet Mother, to win.
In danger defend us,
In sorrow befriend us,
And shield our hearts
From contagion and sin.
(Beloved favourite of the late Angus and Mollie Moncur)
Naoi gCéad Míle Fáilte to all our many visitors.
