Machnamh

Lord Jesus,
You were sent by the Father
To gather together those who are scattered.

You came among us, doing good and bringing healing,
announcing the Word of salvation
and giving the Bread which lasts forever.
Be our companion on life’s pilgrim way.

May your Holy Spirit inflame our hearts,
enliven our hope and open our minds,
so that together with our sisters and brothers in faith we may recognise you in the Scriptures and in the
breaking of bread.

(Extract from the Eucharistic Congress Prayer)

Smaoineamh
Every time we celebrate the Eucharist we recall some of the wonderful things he said and did. We reflect on them and try to apply them to our lives. But the Eucharist is more wonderful still. When we remember him in this way, he becomes present to us. Not physically present, but nevertheless really present. We are not merely in communication with him, but in communion with him, a holy communion.

World Meeting of Families
Pope Francis has chosen Ireland to host the 9th World Meeting of Families in 2018. It is the largest universal gathering of Catholic families and brings together families from all over the world in faith and celebration. What is the World Meeting of Families? In 1994, Pope St John Paul II asked the Pontifical Council for the Family to establish the World Meeting of Families as an international event of prayer, catechesis and celebration, drawing participants from around the globe. It seeks to strengthen the bonds between families and to bear witness to the crucial importance of marriage and the family for all.
A special collection will be taken up in all Diocese in Ireland this weekend, May 28th/29th towards the cost of hosting this event. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
