An Díseart Talks
Fr. Jim Sheehy is offering two talks at the Díseart as an opportunity for reflection and discussion on the subject of Celtic Christian Spirituality and Culture.
1. “An Introduction to Celtic Spirituality and Culture, and the Early Irish Church” – Wednesday October 19th 8pm – 9.30pm.
2. “An Díseart – a centre for the promotion of Celtic Christian Spirituality and Culture” – Wednesday October 26th 8pm – 9.30pm.

A prayer is answered, not when we get what we are asking for, but when we are granted a sense of God’s nearness. The prayer of a sick person is answered, not by having his disease disappear, but by his gaining a sense of God’s nearness, the assurance that his illness is not a punishment from God and that God has not abandoned him. Prayer may not change the world for us, but it can give us the courage to face it.
When we learn how to pray, we learn not just how to recite words, but how to open the heart. The practice that nourishes one most is quiet prayer of the heart. Just sitting very quietly and opening the heart and letting God in.
