We invite along all parishioners who met with them on their previous visits and any others who would like to join us, as we work to continue to design and plan our Parish Mission (Nov. 6th – 13th). Read all about Mission in Ardfert Fr Noel Kehoe, CSSR reports on a Mission in a Kerry parish with a rich Christian history. “If any parish can boast about its long history of Christian faith, Ardfert in Co. Kerry has nearly 1,500 years to look back on. Recently, that is exactly what the parish has been doing … looking back and drawing inspiration from its sources and its rich history. The Mission was a great event for both the parish and the missioners. With masses in the morning and an evening Mission service in both churches, more and more people attended as the week progressed. One interesting aspect of this mission was the involvement of the two national schools. As well as visiting them, Br. Tony and Michelle worked with the Communion and Confirmation classes. Each school had an opportunity to organise one of the morning masses and, of course, each night after the service, they had a chance to teach their communities the new ‘action’ songs they had learnt. So enthusiastic were they that one lady was heard to remark, “Years ago, our parents dragged us out to the Mission. Now it’s the children who are dragging the parents.” In a world that is so busy, it can be hard to find times and places to experience the presence of God in one’s life. The mission offered just that, and once again the ancient parish of Ardfert and Kilmoyley became a great centre of witness to the faith in a new age. Lena and Taizé and Eurovision Eurovision winner Lena Meyer-Landrut is happy to reveal that she draws much of her inspiration from the Taizé monastery in Eastern France. The German teenager is confident to admit “I was searching for happiness and peace and I found it in Taizé”. She came to appreciate the music and worship of the Taizé monks because she was “searching for something more in life” – going there on pilgrimage to experience the simple life of faith and love. Last Saturday before her audience of millions she wore her Taizé Cross. Bro. Wolfgang, a German Taizé brother congratulating her said “To wear her faith so publicly is not so easy – a brave confession of faith”. Mo cheol thú, Lena, beir bua! Prayer For All Exam Students Lord, pour out your Spirit of Wisdom on these students: help them to remain calm, to attend carefully to the questions asked, to think clearly, to remember accurately, and to express themselves well. Grant that they may reflect the best of the work they have done and the best of the teaching they have received. Accept their best efforts in these examinations and in the great test of life on earth. May your love be upon them, O Lord, as they place all their trust in you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
